How easy can you accept what is?

Last week, I struggled...

The last 8 days were quite different than expected.

You never plan to get sick, do you?

And when you get sick, you hope it’s gone in 2-3 days.

Well, I did both, and it didn’t work out.

My partner and I are still recovering from a nasty virus.

Instead of working and travelling in her home country Bulgaria, we stayed at her parent's holiday apartment and didn’t move much.

To be honest, it was tough.

But it also taught me a lesson on accepting the magic of the body and using everything we experience as an opportunity to be present.

Yes, I did not want to be sick, but this was what it was. Otherwise, it would not have happened.

On Accepting

It’s not easy to do. But the best we can do is look at the cards we have. And then play with them in the best way we can in the given moment.

Knowing this is an infinite game.
Knowing this is not about winning, but about play.

On the magic of the body

What I was also thinking in a moment of severe coughing and difficulty to breathe: how amazing is this body?

How amazing is it that it can do the healing whilst keeping me alive?
How incredibly miraculous. I was in awe. I am in awe as I write these words.

What are you noticing in your body right now?
Can you feel the magic?

If you can, chances are your energy just shifted completely.
That is the power of being aware, combined with some embodied gratitude.

On being present

I struggled with this often. However, I learned to use a difficult situation or unpleasant experience as a signpost towards being present.

Instead of pushing it away, I practice observing my experience and say to myself: Ah cool, resistance. Thanks to this very obvious sensation in my body that I can feel. Thanks for all the thoughts that come with it.

Since I do this, I feel more at ease. Obviously, there are many times when I forget it. But when I do it, it is very empowering. It is an important reminder that we are loving awareness that can hold all that we experience.

The good, the bad and the ugly.

To wrap it up, my invitation to us is:

  1. Make appreciating your body a habit. Gratitude is powerful and instantly available. It is only a choice away.

  2. Use negative thoughts and experiences as an opportunity to be here, now. It’s the only thing that is real.

Love. Chris
